What are the best private loans?

Question by brenda c: What are the best private loans?
I’m going to Art Center College of Design in September and I’ve learned that I will need to pay–AFTER all the financial aid I was given, about 48,000 dollars for tuition for one year (3 terms. 14 weeks=1term).If I go to school through out with no breaks…I can finish Art Center-my bachelors in fine arts in 2 and a half years. However, people often take longer than that to finish their education at Art Center. So let’s say..by the time I graduate, I’ll be 120,000 dollar in debt to private loans. Financial Aid Office has told me direct Plus Loans for parents OR private loans are my only other options to pay for this. I’m in a low-income family, and my parents cannot borrow that much money. So, I need to go get my private loan now and quick since payment for tuition is due very soon.

NOW here’s my questions, thanks for reading…what banks or institutions are the best places to get private loans. I’m gonna be borrowing a lot of money so I need a payment plan that can still be manageable since after college, I’m not guaranteed a six figure job or anything.

I’ve thought about waiting for the Spring and applying for CalArts. If anyone knows, is CalArts cheaper or do they provide better financial aid?

So there’s that two options. Thanks.

Answer by Alex
From my research,
CalArts is actually a little bit more expensive than Art Center
and CalArts is much harder to get in becsue CalArts is the best art school in California.

(CalArts Fine Arts acceptance rate is about 20 ~ 23 percent)
(Art Center Fine Arts acceptance rate is about 60 ~ 70 percent)

Moreover, I belive that CalArts doesn’t accept students in spring term.

What are my chances of getting into college?

Question by : What are my chances of getting into college?
I am a senior currently applying for college. I plan to major in fine arts/studio arts and do premed at the same time. So I’m specifically looking for a liberal arts college where their art program as well as premed program is excellent. So this is a list of schools I’m applying to and I’m putting them from highest probability to lowest probability of getting into:
CUNY Hunter and City College; SUNY Binghamton; American University; NYU (Steinhardt); U Chicago; Columbia and Cornell; Yale; and two art schools on the side: School of Visual Arts in NYC and Cooper Union; I’m know I’m applying to a good number of reaches but I would regret never trying.
Male, Asian (Filipino), First-Generation American
Ranked 17/277 (top 6%) GPA: 3.7 (weighted); I don’t know what it is unweighted. I tried calculating it and I think it may be 3.2 or 3.3, but don’t hold me to that.
Jr. High: Spanish, Biology, Math A (these count as high school credits)
Freshman: Math A/Math B H, English H, Earth Science H, Global History H, Spanish, Studio Art, Personal Keyboarding, Concert Band
Sophomore: Math B H, English H, AP Biology, AP World History, Spanish H, JROTC
Junior: Precalculus H, AP Statistics, AP English Language, AP Chemistry, AP US History, Psychology, Health, Concert Band
Senior: AP Calculus B/C, AP English Literature, Speech, AP Physics, Economics, Participation in Government, Studio Art
Mostly A’s and B’s…and one dreadful C, but considering the weight from all the honor and AP classes I could have more B’s.
My school doesn’t give out very impressive honors, titles, or awards. They also don’t hold competitions e.g. science fairs or writing competitions. Not until by the END of senior year do they give out the special awards. So I can’t say what I put down on commonapp is impressive either. The most legitimate ones besides Honor Roll/Pricipal’s list is AP Scholar, Highest Score on the American Mathematics Competition in the school, and Reflections-Visual Arts Winner.
My highest AP scores were a 5 for Biology, 4 for World History, and 4 for US History.
My SAT scores are sadly unimpressive. Maybe because I didn’t prepare enough.
SAT I’s: 1900 (composite score) 620 CR, 640 M, 640 W SAT II’s: Biology: 750, World History: 630
I’m going to take the ACT and hopefully I’ll get an excellent score.

-I got to go the Boston over the summer and get a good in depth introduction into the medical field. From what I’ve read this program isn’t very prestigious or impressive on my application, nonetheless it was a great experience.
I work at an orthodontics office. The first time as a sophomore I was a file clerk, then I quit, but came back before my senior year as a laboratory assistant.
Community/Volunteer Service:
-I volunteered at a nursing and rehabilitation center for a year to help for holiday events.
-Participated in the American Heart Association Heartwalk with my family for 6 consecutive years in commemoration for our beloved family member.
-Mock Graduation Ceremony 2009 – Washington DC
The mock graduation ceremony has been working for the past eight years has become a national collaborative movement for the support of The Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act (DREAM Act). Its an advocating movement.
As for my recs I got my AP Biology teach I developed the longest relationship with. And my favorite AP English Language teacher, he’s quirky and unusual but an enlightening and funny dude and I know his rec is going to stand out.
As for my essay I’m putting all my heart and creativity to write up an interesting one. I’m actually writing two. One about my strange habit or fetish of always wearing socks nearly 24/7; how socks shaped my life, The other one is about how I incorporate my artistic vision and signature in the things I do and how it’s shaped my choices and life. This could probably be a good highlight of my application.

Q&A: Wizard Of Oz auditions help!!?

Question by singergirl246: Wizard Of Oz auditions help!!?
I’m auditioning for the Wizard Of Oz with my local theatre company and I really want the part of Glinda. Does anyone have any advice for me? I have a cold reading and I have to sing a song. I was wondering what should I sing? Also what kind of characteristics do I need to bring out why reading for Glinda.
I’m 15, and I’ve been in two plays already with the guy who is directing it. The last play he directed was Scrooge the Musical and I got a main part of The Ghost of Christmas Past.
But also I’m kinda scared I might get a part of a munchkin because I’m only 5’0 foot but I have a really good voice and I’ve had 4 years of acting training with the fine arts center.

Best answer:

Answer by Love is ANIMAL♥
Glinda is a very, well, happy character. So if your reading for Glinda you might want to choose a script/reading where you can show you can be nice, good, happy, and sweet, without going overboard. You need to show that you can be caring, sweet, happy, and good. Afterall, she is the good witch.
Also, Glindas songs go pretty high at one point in the show, so what song are you singing? You want to pick one that shows a good vocal range. That is veryyyy important in the role of Glinda.
When we did the Wizard of Oz, my friend got the part of Glinda, and she is only 5’1. But it worked because, no one says Glinda HAS to be very much taller then the muchkins. The difference can be seen if the acting is strong enough. And the costume helps. :) . Also, I was the Lion (I’m 5’6), and with the shorter Glinda, it helped show the cowardly aspect with the height difference because even though I’m taller I’m still frightened of her, and whatnot. So I think a shorter Glinda is a good idea, but it’s all about what the director sees in his head.
Good luck. :)

ADD:
Do NOT try and base her on Glinda in Wicked.
In Wicked, the character Glinda is the same person, but she is much more out there in Wicked.
In Wizard of Oz she is still happy, caring, and a lovable character but she is not nearly as bubbly in Wizard as she is in Wicked.
If you want to base her off anything, watch the orginal Wizard of Oz movie.

Best Interface Design Schools?

Question by Monk: Best Interface Design Schools?
Hello

Right now im taking graphic design courses at a community college.

But my im looking into “interface design”.

I’m interrested in the design side of interfaces. Although programming may be a big part of interfaces, im interrested specifically in the design of their “visual look”.

I’m located in California in the Bay Area, very close to San Francisco.

Questions:

[1]

Do you know of any schools that specifically offer interface design programs/degrees?

[2]

Do people looking to specialize in interface design initially go for a more general degree like graphic design?

[3]

The Academy of Art in san franciso offers a program like this, is it any good?

[4]

The Art Center College of Design is a place im interrested in but i’m not sure how much focus they give specifically to interface design.

[5]

I’m also interrested in information design. Is information design the underlying degree for interface design or is it different?

Thankyou, all info is appreciated.

creative ways to use books?

Question by hobo: creative ways to use books?
As I rummage through old junk (and new junk) I come across books that I will never read. Some are not my thing. Some make me mad. Some are just plain useless (like a 1995 physician’s handbook).

I don’t like throwing things away. Most books I can give away on bookmooch or sell on amazon. But some books are still useless (like the 1995 physician’s handbook).

For these, I have to be more creative. I’ve torn up a few badly beaten books to use in art projects. I would like to try the blackout poetry sometime when I think I can manage a poem. For my 1995 physician’s handbook, I’m working on carving out the center to make a secret compartment.

What are some other creative ways to use useless books? What do you do with your useless books?

Best answer:

Answer by HP Wombat
I use pages as decoration or as matte for picture frames. I have a couple of books that I picked up for free from my local library from the 1960′s, nature guides that were just thin, yellowed books. I used their ripped pages around my photos

Q&A: HELP!! I HAVE TO WRITE A DECLERATION OF INDEPENDENCE?

Question by hanan a: HELP!! I HAVE TO WRITE A DECLERATION OF INDEPENDENCE?
These are the guidlines

A. PREAMBLE
-From what are you declaring independence?
-what are the conditions causing the desire to seperate?

B. NATURE OF THE COMPLAINT
-Describe the ideal or tolerable situation.
-describe the actual situation
-describe the remedy to correct the complaint.

C. GREIVANCES AND COMPLAINTS
-Specifically describe three to five grievances

D. FORMAL STATEMENT OF INDEPENDENCE
-State in your own words that all other efforts have failed and therefore the only acceptable solution remaining is to declare independence

THIS IS A EXAMPLE FROM MY TEACHER READ BELOW!!!
HE WROTE:

I.
WE THE FRESHMEN OF ALL AMERICAN HIGH SCHOOL, DO HEREBY UNITE TOGETHER TO REQUIRE THE RIGHT TO ATTEND ALLL SCHOOL FUNCTIONS ON A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE ORDER. WE THE FRESHMEN ARE ALWAYS LAST TO BE CALLED TO SCHOOL FUNCTIONS.

II.
THE IDEAL SITUATION FOR ATTENDING ALL SCHOOL FUNCTIONS WOULD BE ON A ROTATING BASIS. WE HEREBY SAY WE ARE EQUAL TO ALL CLASSIFICATIONS. THE ACTUAL CONDITIONS CONSIST OF BEING CALLED TO SCHOOL FUNCTIONS IN THE FOLLOWING ORDER: SENIORS, JUNIORS, SOPHMORES, AND THEN FRESHMEN. WE THE FRESHMEN CLASS WOULD LIKE TO SEE A ROTATING “ROLL CALL” OR ALL PEP RALLIES, GENERAL ASSEMBLIES , AWARDS BANQUETS .ETC

III.
THE CURRENT SITUATION ALWAYS PLACES FRESHMEN IN THE BALCONY. THEREFORE, WE ARE NOT ABE TO PARTICIPATE FULLY OR AT ALL IN THE FINE ARTS CENTER.

WE ARE THE LAST TO BE CALLED TO THE PEP RALLIES ARE HALF OVER BY THE TIME WE ARRIVE.

ADMINISTRATIORS DO NOT ENFORCE THE CURRENT HANDBOOK RULES BY ALLOWING SENIORS,JUNIORS,AND SOPHMORES TO PUSH THE FRESHMEN “OUT” OF VARIOUS LINES, LIKE THE LUNCH LINE.

IV.
SINCE THE ADMINISTRATIORS, TEACHERS, AND UPPERCLASSMEN WILL NOT CONSIDER OUR GOD-GIVEN RIGHTS, WE DO DECLARE OUR INDEPENDENCE FROM THE PROCEDURES OF THE ALL-AMERICAN HIGHSCHOOL HANDBOOK.

……………………………………………………..WILL SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME AND GIVE ME IDEAS. :(
THANKYOU EVERYBODY I FOUND A SOLUTION FOR MY PROBLEM. THANKYOU FOR YOUR HELP :D
