Question by zahara: need help with a few math problemss?
Q1 ..Solve the problem. Round your answer to three decimals.
What annual rate of interest compounded continuously is required to double an investment in 6 years?

Q2 ..The size P of a small herbivore population at time t (in years) obeys the function P(t) = 500e0.25t if they have enough food and the predator population stays constant. After how many years will the population reach 1000

Q3.. The Family Fine Arts Center charges $ 24 per adult and $ 10 per senior citizen for its performances. On a recent weekend evening when 478 people paid admission, the total receipts were $ 6992. How many who paid were senior citizens?

thankss alott .. i really am bad in mathh

Best answer:

Answer by jgoulden
(Q1) For interest compounded continuously, we need the equation

FV = Pe^Yr

where FV = future value, P = original investment, e is the base of the natural log, Y is the time in years, and r the annual interest rate.

You want to double your money in seven years, so solve

2P = Pe^( 7 r )
2 = e^ ( 7r )
ln ( 2 ) = 7r
ln ( 2 ) / 7 = r = .099

So interest of just a shade less than 10% per year will double your money in seven years.

(Q2) You are given the equation

P(t) = 500e^0.25t

and asked to find the time when P(t) is one thousand.

1000 = 500 e^.25t
2 = e^.25t
ln ( 2 ) = .25 t
ln ( 2 ) / .25 = t = 2.78 years

(Q3) Translating the words into equations where A = number of adults and C = number of senior citizens:

A + C = 478
24 A + 10 C = 6992

The first equation gives us A = 478 – C which we will then substitute into the second…

24 ( 478 – C ) + 10 C = 6992

11472 – 24 C + 10 C = 6992

4480 = 14 C

320 = C

So there were 320 senior citizens and 158 adults.

Checking: ( 24 ) ( 158 ) + ( 10 ) ( 320 ) = 6992 as expected.

I’m looking for a guitar that’s a nice starter guitar, but not something cheap and useless. My dream guitars are a Gibson Les Paul (1960 Standard or Custom), Gibson Robot Guitar and a classic American Fender Strat. What is a great website that is legit (trusted) and sells used guitars in good condition, or lets you rent them? Also, does anyone know any good music stores in Maryland besides Guitar Center and the Music & Arts Center.

ok. i have a crush and i find him very attarctive. fairly tanned but pink short light brown hair with intense powder blue eyes and about 5’10 the thing is im homeschooled and when i go to my fine arts center(electives center) i only see him for like 5 hoursevery fri.from the way he acts he seems like the type that is always happy and very humorous.cameout elective class he held the door open for me(which i thought was very sweet because most guys i know wouldn’t do anything that kind!) he is always smiling which is great because he has a beautiful smile and everyone seems to know him. i find it confusing that i dont have the guts to talk to him because im a girl that likes to socialize. i dont plan on starting a “relationship” just a friendship. although he turns behind him in chorus and takes a glimspe at me. and when he does actually “look” at me he doesn’t have that “woow your beautiful,and im interested” kind of look. since im new to the fine arts center i haven’t been making a lot of friends i dont see why but i just dont.anyways(kind of off topic!) i would like to hang out wiht him sometime in my life! but hopefully your advice will help this situation.

Find the solution by graphing the system of equations.

The Family Fine Arts Center charges $ 21 per adult and $ 15 per senior citizen for its performances. On a recent weekend evening when 591 people paid admission, the total receipts were $ 10,053. We can represent this situation with the system of equations
a + s = 591
21a + 15s = 10,053
with a representing the adults who attended and s representing the senior citizens who attended. How many who paid were senior citizens?

Best answer:

Answer by ت Chanthy
a + s = 591 —— (1)
21a + 15s = 10,053 —— (2)

From (1), we rearrange:
s = 591 – a ———–(3)

So we sub (3) into (2):
21a + 15(591 – a) = 10053
21a + 8865 – 15a = 10053
6a = 1188
a = 198

So the number of adults is 198
And hence, the number of senior citizens is 591 – 198 = 393

Question by : What should I know about NOCCA?
OKAY, here we go. I’m fourteen years old, I’m in eighth grade, I love to sing, dance, act, perform, etc. and I want to further my career as an aspiring artist. Because I live in Louisiana I decided I would look into auditioning for the Musical and the Non-Musical Theatre at NOCCA (New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts), but I don’t really know the ropes. What is the admission fee? Is admission expensive? Will theatrical classes interfere with my required academic classes? I live an hour away from New Orleans; does that mean I would have to be driven to NOCCA everyday? Is it difficult to make an audition? What else is essential to know about this school?

The reason I’m asking is because I really need more material for my Resume; I’m a Soprano I in my school choir, I have the lead female role of Luisa in our school drama club’s production of “The Fantasticks,” I’m an Alternate in music ministry for our school masses, and in the past I’ve sung for three talent shows, some birthday parties (unprofessionally), and I even play piano. In the past I’ve also taken dance for one year, and “The Fantasticks” is my third theatrical production. I really haven’t had any training in any of my talents, which worries me, so what are the requirements for me to attend NOCCA should I pass auditions?

Please, please answer my question. It would make me even happier if you could enlighten me on your experiences attending NOCCA yourself; it would be such a relief hearing from someone who’s actually taken classes there.

Please and thank you in advance! I love you guys!
– Sam

I am Girjesh Choudhary and i am glad new screenplay writing aspirants are thinking of joining CRAFT. I just surprisingly found this question. I am Graduate from CRAFT this year jan 2008, and working in bombay. This is the best place to learn Screenplay after FTII pune. you get to see best of the world cinema. we had workshop by Manu bhandari,screenplay writter for Classics Like rajnigandha,and well-know literary figure in delhi. this year i just heard that Atul Twari ,wellknow screenplay writter for film sof Shyam Bengal ,Kamla Hasan recent film.came for the workshop when i was seeing the pictures at the CRAFT event site.
when i came from Ganj basoda,Vidhisha in MP i had very limited understanding of cienma,now i think CRAFT helped me alot in widening my vision.Screenplay writting course is specially patronized by CRAFT director, Mr Sharma and he is planning to bring out a spl magazine for the benefit of screenplay writing aspirants. he is also very enthusiastic about seeting up Screenplay writing GRANT in near future like Hubert Bal Fund of Rotterdam film festival
i must say , if you cannot get through in FTII, PUNE .Craft is the NEXT best option.

Question by garygibsonsfwriter: How much to charge for teaching a creative writing class?
I’m a professional novelist considering whether or not to put together a class teaching creative writing with the goal in mind of professional publication covering novel writing, developing skills, workshopping etc, but I’ve no idea what an appropriate fee might be. This is, therefore, really a question for other tutors out there, particularly those teaching creative writing or similar. I would be teaching at a local arts centre rather than a local further ed. college, but based on my research most of the colleges charge only £70 or thereabouts for a course lasting up to ten weeks of two hour classes.

If you get, say, ten students, £700 spread over ten weeks really isn’t a great deal at all, making me think this might not be financially viable at all (however good it made me feel doing it). Do local colleges supplement the income of tutors in some way, and does that mean I’d be better off teaching a course at a local further ed. college than essentially going it alone?

Best answer:

Answer by shutuppauface
If you have decent credentials and will actually give students the tools and opportunity within that ten weeks to become better writers, I would go between £150-£200 per person for a ten-week, two-hours-a-throw course.

Good luck!

Question by : What should I get my dad for his birthday?
Alright, so my dad is going to be turning 53 on September 11th. I know this is kind of early ahead of time, but I want to have a good idea of what a good birthday gift would be for my dad. Alright, So a few of the things my dad enjoys is ANY type of music. In the past life, my dad had been a history teacher (still loves watching things like that on the discovery channel) A band director (he plays the saxiphone) and now he is the reginal manager of Music&Arts center. You can probably see he LOVES music, and loves messing around with his saxiphone. What would be a good birthday gift I can get him that is related to his passion of music? I guess I could play a little solo for him on my violin, but I don’t like that idea, it’s about him not me. ANy ideas? By the way, please don’t say homemade items because I had been doing that until I found a job, now I can BUY something. Thanks everyone!

Best answer:

Answer by Ruby
I know you don’t want homemade but this is really awesome…just give it a chance?So, it’s called a 52 Things I Love About You.

What you do is go to the dollar store and buy a deck of cards. Once you’re at home is write a list of things you like/love (love since he’s your father) about the person.

These could be like: You say my music sounds like angels singing- even when it obviously doesn’t, I can always turn to you if I need help with my history homework, etc. Make sure you have 52, so it’s better if you’re specific. If there’s one thing I have to say -do not repeat. It’s a BIG NO-NO.

Once you have your topics write them on the cards. You can do this with a marker or something if you’re short on time. But I’ll tell you this, it looks SO MUCH BETTER if you cut words or letters out of magazines.

Once you’re done you should hole punch some holes in the sides of each card and put some yarn through. It ends up being like a little book and it is!

It does take a little while but a 52 things I Love About You book is the most thoughtful thing I can think of!

Hope I could help, and sorry that I didn’t really answer your real question but as a parent I would like a homemade thing rather than an item from a store…just saying…
